Milestones

Tonight, for the first time, Tobin is sleeping in his new room.  The room formerly known as our guest room is now officially "Tobin's room."  Actually, not much has changed in there:  the guest bed is still there, as are most of the other furnishings, but this evening Jeff moved the crib from the nursery into that room, and over the past few weeks, I've been putting some of Tobin's clothes in the dresser and closet in that room.  Eventually, we plan to move Tobin into the boys' room when he's ready to sleep in a big boy bed; but for now, he'll continue to sleep in the crib in the new room, and we'll set up a cradle for The New Baby in our nursery...after we pick a color and get some paint on the walls in that room.  I know I'm not ready to have this baby yet because his/her room isn't painted yet!!

Tobin seemed a little puzzled at bedtime when I took him into the guest room and got ready to put him in his crib which had suddenly switched rooms!  He whimpered a little after I laid him down, but it didn't take him long to drift off to sleep; and when I checked on him just now, he was sleeping peacefully.  I wish I could take a picture of him because he's so incredibly cute, but there's very little light in there so I would have to use the flash which wouldn't contribute to him continuing to sleep peacefully so I'll skip it and treasure that image in my heart instead of on the camera.  :)

Less significant, but still special enough to put a big smile on my face, I saw the first lightning bug of the year when I was outside tonight!  I love those amazing little creatures.  Their ability to produce light (without burning up in the process) is astounding; but even more, they're synonymous with lazy summer nights in my head--a very pleasant mental association.  When I saw the little critter, I had an urge to wake up Josiah and David so they could see it, too, and come outside for a while to run around and chase the bug(s)--if there was one, there were probably more?  But for tonight, I did the sensible thing and let them sleep and let the lightning bug go his way in peace.  If he shows up tomorrow night, however, I can't promise that there won't be chasers on his tail!  :)
