Even Zorro Has to Sleep Sometime...

...and somewhere. :)

I had intended to post something for Tiny Talk Tuesday today, but have run out of time. I'll just post this quickly, then go and do a little more clean-up in the kitchen, then head to bed.

Towards the end of quiet time this afternoon, I noticed that David, wearing his Zorro costume again, had pulled this small rocking chair over to the top of the steps and was sitting in it, looking down into the kitchen where I was working. After a while, I saw that he had moved to sitting on the steps; and then a bit later as I glanced over, this is what I saw...
...David, fast asleep on the step, thumb in his mouth but ready to slide out as he drifted deeper and deeper into sleep. It doesn't really look to me like a comfortable place to sleep; but it's true that at times, I've been so tired that I'm sure I could have fallen asleep there, too. I was half afraid that he would try to roll over in his sleep and tumble down the stairs so as soon as I took a picture, I carried him into his room and laid him on a bed. Actually, the camera noise startled him so he was half-awake when I picked him up. Maybe a bed is simply far too comfortable for a tough guy like Zorro. :)

Day 3 - Seeing David in this unique spot for sleeping reminded me of how, when we went to Pennsylvania to visit my maternal grandparents, I always wanted to sleep in the crib that was in my parents' room there. The fact that I can remember doing that is a clue about how old I was when this was going on. I'll have to ask my parents what my age was when I finally stopped, but I'm fairly certain I slept in there until I filled it up from end to end and was literally too big to fit any longer. That was so much fun. :)

I'm thankful for cozy sleeping places, the adventure of visiting my grandparents (I'm sure I'll mention this more during other days this month), the fact that my parents are alive and I can ask them to validate the accuracy of what I remember from my childhood, and this happy memory.

I love seeing all the places your kids fall asleep. My kids have never fallen asleep anywhere strange.

Dear little creature! Cozy sleeping places are one of my favourite things, too. Infact, my earliest memory (and I must have been about 2 1/2) is falling asleep on the floor in the sunshine, and half-waking when the sun went away because I was cold, then without my asking my Grandfather quietly draped a blanket over me and I went back to sleep. A comforting, happy memory of being cared for.

Oh how funny! I found Honey asleep at the top of our steps last winter, and was SO thankful she hadn't rolled down them!
According to my dad, I used to get out of bed and sleep in front of the door in my room. It opened IN, and they used to have a heck of a time getting in to put me back in bed! I remember laying dow, but only so I could see the light and hear mom and dad, and the tv(?) better. I wasn't planning on sleeping there!
