...upon waking to a snowy world on Sunday morning and discovering that most area churches cancelled their services, did NOT say, "Woohoo! We get to sleep in!" or "I've got an extra couple of hours to watch ESPN," (impossible for us anyway since we don't have a TV) - but instead asked, "Is it OK with you if we have some people over here to worship together this morning?"
...without being asked, gets out the vacuum cleaner and runs it around the kitchen and living room before the guests show up.
...is passionate about God's Word and can be guided by the Spirit to a passage of Scripture, can dig deep (even into the Hebrew and Greek, when necessary) and bring out truths, and can connect with the emotion and situation of the writer in a way that makes it relevant for changing lives today. Not everyone can do all three.
...is not too macho to change a diaper.
...is not too self-conscious to raise his hands and shout praises to our great God.
...doesn't complain when his wife asks him to come outside into the freezing cold weather so we can take pictures, even when that happens at precisely the time he was hoping to lie down for a peaceful Sunday afternoon nap.
I love a husband like that; and--wonder of wonders!--I happen to have one of those.I love my husband!

I love your Feb. design :) And the pictures of you and Jeff are great! Do you design your own backgrounds or get someone to do them for you? They're always just right!
Thanks, Miriam; I really appreciate the compliment!!
I have so much fun creating a new look for my blog each month; nowadays, I'm even more eager than I used to be for a new month to roll around. :) I make my own header, using pictures I've taken (or in the case of this month's header, Josiah has taken) and edited with Picasa - picasa.google.com - (a free photo editing program that lets me crop, change to black & white, darken/lighten, add text to photos, create collages, etc.) Then I choose a background from a site like The Cutest Blog on the Block or Simply Blog It Backgrounds that coordinates well (in my mind, at least!). Actually, I usually end up trying a number of different ones until I finally settle on The One for that month.
I'm not really that computer-savvy, so if I run into difficulties, I call on Jeff to help me. :)
If you have any further questions, let me know and I'd be glad to help you if I can!
I was just thinking last night how unfortunate it is that so many wives do not esteem their husbands as they should. Then I woke up to read this... Thanks. :)
Wow! Sounds like you have a gem of a husband, which we already knew anyway. I'm glad you all could spend the day at home, together, and still have a worship service.
I love the new February layout, and the pictures of you and your husband are very beautiful. Your husband sounds like such a godly man and I am sure he is very blessed by such an encouraging wife who would take the time to type out such a sweet post praising his qualities. :)
Just caught up with your blog! You have beautiful pictures. I love the ones of David wearing glasses. So cute!!
Lovely pics! It's so wonderful to hear praise and thankfulness for one's partner -- I actually left the room and played with the kids on the weekend when a group of my friends got together and spent time running down their husbands! I realise these men aren't perfect -- but nor are we! Let's concentrate on the things we love, just as you have in this post.
You are blessed. I am so happy for you, you deserve to be loved the way that Jeff loves you! <3
Beautiful and lovely words and pictures!
A man worthy of your respect. A wife who has obviously been loved well. A perfect metaphor for the Church. Thanks for letting us see.
I love the new look, I love the photos, I love this post. What a generous way to honor your husband.
Now... if I can just live up to the post!
What a great resource!
