These pictures are absolutely beautiful! I can't believe how big Shav is getting.

What lovely light the snow creates -- and blue, blue skies. It's been so long since I've been in an icy cold place -- it looks so entrancing.

Didn't he get cold? These are great pictures, and I'm sure you didn't have him out there too long.

These are beautiful, Davene! And although I wish it was cold enough for icicles, getting to play outside without sweaters was nice, too. Our snowman is nearly gone.

When Jeff saw these pictures of Shav, his first comment was, "He looks cold."

So, to set his mind at ease (and yours too, Sally!), let me say that no baby was harmed in the taking of these photographs. :)

Shav was not sitting on the snow, but on an old towel I had positioned in the bottom of the hole I had hollowed out of the snow. He had three layers of clothing on the trunk of his body. When I told Jeff this, he said, "But his hands!" It's true that when I first set Shav down, he reached out and touched the snow and didn't like it one bit. But, being the smart boy that he is, he learned not to do that again. Even in the pictures where it looks like he's touching the snow with his hands, there is actually some space between the snow and him.

I went back and forth about whether to try to capture these pictures of him in the snow, but then I thought, "I'm certainly not going to get to attempt this in July, so let's go for it!" Our weather this afternoon was beautifully sunny and mild, so I didn't think it would hurt to take him out for a quick (and it really was quick) photo shoot.

Thank you, Jeff (and Sally, and any others who were thinking the same thing but didn't want to write it), for your concern! ;)

Davene, everyone asked about the picture of Ana in the snow "certainly you didn't put her right on the snow?!" ha...he's cute but the way they are arranged it is sort of frightening to see those menacing icicles hanging over him! (though I know they aren't really over him!)

I had a moment of panic Davene, I couldn't believe you put Shav *UNDER* the icicles- then my senses returned and I realized it was 2 seperate pictures. Sigh. Being pregnant AND nursing so messes with my head....
All the pictures of your littlest are so sweet, but my FAVORITE is the one from Wednesday with all the boys laying on the floor- i just love that one!
