A Baby's First Christmas...

...is not a big deal to a baby.

...IS a big deal to that baby's mommy. Especially when she pauses to consider the fact that a year ago, that baby was still a tiny (so tiny!) being inside her. Last Christmas, she rejoiced in the closeness she shared with that baby as he (but she didn't know it was a "he"!) nestled inside her womb; this Christmas, she rejoiced in the view of his beautiful smiling face and the knowledge of who he is.

On this baby's first Christmas, he happily hung out with Grandpa while the gifts were exchanged.
He didn't really need anything and couldn't have cared less if anybody gave him a gift or not, but he smiled anyway when Mommy gave him a little gift bag with two new bibs inside. Who can resist the appeal of a monkey-face bib that says "Dinner's on Me"? Or the one (not pictured) that says, "I love my daddy"?
And who can resist the special joy that comes from celebrating Christmas with a child? Especially this particular child...who, I might add, seems to have decided that sleeping through the night is acceptable once again. Waking up this morning to the sound of him fussing and seeing 6:45 AM on the clock, rather than 2:00 or 3:00 AM, was delightful. :)

What a little delight he is!!!!

It was so nice catching up on your blog Davene. And your last post was encouraging to read. I always glean from you. Thank you so much for sharing. I need to learn to be more open when it comes to my blog, its still a work in progress :P

I did have a lovely Christmas and thank you for your comments over the past year. I am so thankful for our friendship.

Much love to you and your family :)

The 1st Christmas is special, isn't it? :)
We had a great Christmas. Adaiah did need things - probably not as much as she got :) but she needed a few things. She slept through all the opening excitement so the older kids opened her gifts for her. Still special though.

Hi Davene,
This is totally unrelated, but I wanted to see if you get a chance can you tell me what you use for Josiah's math? Do you like it? I'm preparing to swtich from Math U See, I think I'm going to get Rod and Staff math, but I'd like to look at other options as well. Math U See is great, but we need more diversity. The focus on mastery is so narrow focused that he's missing measurements, time, money, etc. I don't have the time to create my own seperate lesson plan for these. If you have any info. I'd so much appreciate it.
Thanks, Kristal

Shav is growing up so much! He sure is happy. I love that bib saying "Dinner's on Me". Hannah needs one like that!

I'm really glad he's back to sleeping through the nights. I hope it continues. I hope you get rested up now too.

Kristal,

Short answer: we use Horizons Math for Josiah - and love it!

Long answer: I'll comment on your blog. :)
