In the Early Morning Hours...

...the house was peaceful.  It was just me and the Christmas tree.

Yep, just me and the Christmas tree and the cheery fire in the woodstove.
That's right, just me and the Christmas tree and the cheery fire in the woodstove and a cup of coffee.
Yes, like I said, just me and the Christmas tree and the cheery fire in the woodstove and a cup of coffee AND this little fellow...
...who, in the early morning hours, apparently decided that he had had ENOUGH of sleeping and it was time to get up right now!  So he and I went downstairs, he had a little bite of breakfast, he played and climbed on me, I watched and applauded as he scooted and sat up and stood up and cruised, he smiled gleefully as I twirled big plastic rings on the floor.  Great fun.

"Well," thought I, "if I have to be awake this early..."  (because, remind me again, WHO gets up this early by choice??)

"...I might as well turn it into a blog post!"

And I did.

The End  ;-)

Love your pictures and the joy of your words so early in the morning. We were up early due to our toddler this morning.

Oh boy....Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. WHAT are you trying to do to me?? My heart...be still my heart. x

Anne, have you been here??? You obviously know what a paradise this valley is, so I'm guessing that you've experienced it firsthand. :)

I tell you what: you come here to visit, and we'll host you and your family. Then we'll come to your corner of the world, and you can show us around. Does that sound like a fair trade to you?

Oh, there's just one problem: who will pay for the plane tickets?! ;-)

You know what, Davene...I've never been though my heart is there often. Don't ask me why, but these words just do it for me - we visited VA on our first USA holiday, but the Shenandoah didn't see us :(
One day....one day. I think it stems from a combination of the history of Stonewall J (my hero, but don't hold it against me!), Robert Lee, and the movie Gods and Generals....
I think your 'deal' is spot on! But yes, one slight problem that you've touched on....! One day, one day..

I am so glad you did! What cozy cozy pictures and a nice little tale. I hope you were able to get a nap later on :)

Elizabeth,

A nap? Well... The only nap I got was after I put Shav down for his (very early) morning nap, but before Tobin woke up for the day. I was cuddling on the couch with Josiah and David while Josiah read a book and David tried to talk to me. I think he was asking me deep questions like, "Do you love me more than an apple?" I would fall asleep while he was talking; then when he waited for my answer and realized I wasn't awake, he would prod me and I would rouse enough to say, "Yes," before falling asleep again. I vaguely remember hoping that "yes" was an appropriate answer to whatever his question was. This went on for a little while--how long, I'm not sure--until Tobin came down the steps and I had to get up off the couch and help him with breakfast. And that was the end of sleeping for today! :)

But amazingly, I had a good day and didn't feel as exhausted as I thought I would. Of course, I did have a few "doses" of caffeine. ;-)
