~ I took this picture of Jeff's hands and a dove - June 4, 2010
I first grew to love this verse when I was in college. One of my friends had a poster (remember how posters were such a big deal in college?) with this verse and a picture of a bird in flight, and I often stopped to look at it and ponder the verse. I had a wonderful college experience; but still, there were definitely I-wish-I-could-fly-away moments interspersed with the I-love-college-and-never-want-to-graduate ones.
Now, years later, this verse still comes back to my mind, especially on days like this one. Days when I feel so tired, and the burdens of life feel heavy - even when I know they're really not. Days when the spiritual food given me seems so dry, and I long for clear, pure, refreshing streams of living water. Days when I want to "hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm" (Ps. 55:8).
It's in days like today that I most need to remember that HE is my place of shelter. HE is my rest.

I love that picture and I love that beautiful reminder Davene. Thank you.
Such a nice verse and picture. You and I posted on a very similar theme today :)
Much peace and rest to you sweet Davene!

I can identify with such a day so very well! I had to go read this whole chapter of Psalms, and read it again.
V. 22 "Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall."
I think I need "my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm" this week. We have so much going on with Andrew's family, and if I even pause to think, I feel completely buried with tasks of preparation and my own housework and garden work.
Thanks for this chapter of truth and reminder of God's care.
