Sleeping in a Hurricane

Last night I awakened to the sound of wind--very strong wind. I had heard about the winds that come to Alpine where we are staying, but I don't think we've ever personally experienced them during any of our visits here. In any case, I could hardly believe how windy it was; it literally made me feel like I was sleeping in a hurricane. This morning, Jeff's brother Greg estimated that the winds were 60-65 mph; and Jeff's mother thought we may have had gusts up to 80 mph. The wind is still blowing now, and sometimes it even continues for several days. Wow, that's some strong wind!!! (Apparently, the national weather service said winds were 30-35 mph...so choose whom you want to believe!) :)
