~ thankful for this time of year when secrets abound and are oh-so-delicious to ponder...numerous times a day, I find myself thinking, "I can hardly wait until they see their gift!...I can hardly wait until he finds out what I got for him!...I can just hardly wait!"...I'm as bad as a kid--not so much for the gifts I will receive (although I'm pretty eager to open them as well), but for the gifts I will give :)

I KNOW!! I keep thinking about my daughter's reaction when she comes down the stairs on Christmas morning. This is even more fun than when I was a kid, anticipating Christmas (But that was still great too!).

Davene - just read that you're expecting again! Congrats. HOw are you doing? It looked like the ole preggo hormones were striking again! :) I remember it well. Things are good here, crazy, but good. Can't believe you're having another one - we are not. I believe we are quite finished thank you very much and happy for it too! :) LOL!!! Just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm thinking about you and praying for you and yours...Merry Christmas!
Christmas makes me all girly inside, too. It's marvellous fun. What's your policy on Santa for your boys?
In our family we have one gift that santa brings that is wrapped in brown paper. He also fills the stockings but the rest of the gifts are from Mommy and Daddy! It seems to work because usually Santa brings the gift they want the most! :)
Morning, we have never done Santa for the boys. I didn't grow up with it so there was no emotional pull to include that for them. Christmas without it was, for me, still the most highly-anticipated and wonderful time of year...and I think that is true for them as well. :)
However, we have friends and family who do/have done Santa; and that's fine, of course. "To each his own." When I explain the idea of Santa to Josiah and the way that some parents pretend with their children that the presents come from Santa, I try to make it clear to him that if he hears his friends talking about Santa, he does NOT need to announce to them that Santa isn't real. :) I want him to understand that each family has their own dynamic and own way of doing things, and we don't need to ruin that for anyone!
Davene - I like the way you handle Santa. We are downplaying it here - even today with the Santa picture, I told the girls it was only someone dressed up. And the way you've talked to Josiah about it is perfect. I just so think the Santa myth takes away from the Christian Christmas story - and why not just tell the truth?
Thanks for commenting about that.
