She Did It Again

Back in January, Emily graciously agreed to come over to take pictures of Tobin on his birthday; and today, she did that again for David's birthday. She gets to use my camera, I get some beautiful images, and my boys LOVE to play with her. It's a win-win-win situation! (And today, it was especially wonderful because while she entertained the three older boys outside and took pictures of them, Shav slept in his crib and I had time and peace and quiet to prepare for our fellowship potluck tonight..which was a blast...I think there were 37 people here...but that's another story...) Thanks, Emily; I'm SO grateful for what you did!!!

I'm really tired tonight, but I just had to pop on here and put up a few pictures that she took. There are LOTS more that I want to post, but that will have to wait for another day.

You do have some of the cutest boys! Those are great pictures.
37 people at your house for a potluck?! How do you keep your mind on straight? We are hosting a baby shower for Miriam tomorrow, and there will be 19 adults here, and I've been preparing pretty hard for about 3 weeks, cleaning, moving, decluttering, etc. You are amazing! Tell us more about it, and your secrets for managing so you can relax and enjoy hosting these type of things. I desperately want to know! I NEED to know!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID!!!!! We can't believe his is already FIVE. We remember the first time we met your family in the church nurshry and David was very shy and was very attached to my Mom. We believe he was only about 2. Boy has he grown into such a charming little boy who always knows how to put a smile on your face. We can't help but wonder what the next year will bring and how many smiles he will cause.

With Love,
The Mumaws

Sally,

I would love to write a whole post about the subject of hospitality and how I "keep my mind on straight." :) To be sure, there are times when I get stressed about having people over, and that certainly kills the joy of it all! But I've learned from some great role models, and I'd love to jot down some of what I've learned. It would be good for me to do that, so I could review the hospitality lessons I've been taught along the way.

I think the most important thing though is to remember that what people remember most will be whether we as hostesses were happy, cheerful, friendly, smiling, etc. If there is WARMTH in a home (and you know I'm not talking about physical temperature), there can be dust on the bookshelves, and no one will mind.

Anyway, I hope the shower for Miriam went really well; and I'm sure your guests were blessed by you opening up your home to them.

Oh, one more thing - I also hope that you're giving yourself lots of grace these days. Being pregnant AND having just gone through a house remodel means that you've got two strikes against you, so to speak. Give grace to yourself, relax, rest in His arms. :)
