'Night!

Normally I Would Be Blogging...
...but not tonight. This hour of the night when kids are finally in bed and asleep belongs to me, and I revel in this time to write. But at the moment, as I hurriedly type, thunder is rumbling (and I pray it brings some rain with it!!!), and I want to get off the computer as soon as possible. Besides--and more importantly--I need to spend some time trying to figure out a strategy for dealing with ungrateful, complaining hearts. Attitudes--we've got plenty of them 'round here! I've pulled out my copy of Shepherding a Child's Heart, and I'm ready to roll. If the electricity goes out in this storm, I'll read by flashlight, which is not as romantic as candlelight, but a whole lot safer when you're reading in bed!

Uh-oh. Is that what I have coming next--bad attitudes? I have enough trouble dealing with my own when I have one, I don't even want to think of trying to help someone else manage theirs. I hope you figure out a successful strategy.
P.S. My strategy for managing my own is a good dose of hard work. It pretty much always improves my attitude.
You know, you're such an awesome mom that I'll just call you whenever I have something with Susannah I don't know how to deal with :)
After our discussion at dinner the other night I also pulled of my copy of Shepherding a Child's Heart. Hoping it brings some re-enlightenment to both of us! Happy reading, Friend!
Davene,
I just pulled out Raising Great Kids and Boundaries with Kids to hopefully glean some insights on parenting "ungrateful, complaining hearts," as well! I've heard of the book Shepherding a Child's Heart. I might need to throw that in my Amazon cart. Your work will pay off!
So if you figure out that strategy for dealing with ungrateful, complaining hearts, let me know.
Oh, wait. You were talking about kids, weren't you? :-)
Sometimes I find that dealing with my own ungrateful, complaining heart is struggle enough.
