After experiencing "significant abdominal distress" (that felt like a monster contraction that would not let go for 3 and 1/2 hours) yesterday afternoon and evening, and then waking up at 1:50 a.m. with sporadic contractions, I had convinced myself that today was the day, and that I would surely be on my way to the hospital at some point today...and be able to hold my new son in my arms by nightfall, at least. Ha! My body obviously had other ideas, and things settled down about 3:30 a.m. You think my 3:00 a.m. snack of milk and Oreos made the contractions stop??? :) Or maybe it was my dad's prayers, since he was really tired last evening and wanted to enjoy a good night's sleep before the big occasion. "The prayers of a righteous man are powerful and effective..." :)
Yesterday afternoon I was feeling so poorly that I had to call for back-up. Fortunately, my back-up lives right down the hill; and my mother soon arrived with a smile on her face, ready to make our soup for dinner, unload the dishwasher, set the table, fold my laundry, etc. What a blessing!
Today I'm pretending that everything is normal, so in a little while, we'll be off to our church service...and I'll see whether that brings on contractions! :)

Well... something is going on :)... it won't be too long now!!
I can't wait!!!!! :)
Oh those last days are the hardest! The waiting game, though exciting, can be nerve wracking as well. I wish you the best in these last preggy days. Rest well. I can't wait to see a picture on here of your new little bundle. :)
Ohhh!! YAY! That means a baby is ready to show himself!!! WOOHOO!! Keep us posted.
Oh, Davene...you could have called me...I was awake most of the night with contractions. :-) Nothing to show for it today - except a lack of sleep. By the way, my 2am snack was peanut butter crackers. Wouldn't it be fun if we ended up doing this on the same day???
I SO HOPE you and Crystal "go" on the same day! You both found out you were pregnant on the same day, right? (mothers day) so it's only fitting!
Love to you. Can't wait to hear the good news.
sorry about your false alarm...no fun :) ....my cousin and i were due to go to the same hospital and her duedate was 3 days before mine (jan 17th)....and we have joked about sharing a room and splitting the cost :)....but alas, she went saturday nite the 5th.....and I, well, as you can see, I am still here....slightly dilated, but still here....:)
blesssings.....
btw, i, too, have nothing to wear....and my date came and went when my firstborn son came (3 weeks early), so i know how that is....hopefully the date doesn't come and go when my second son came (1 week late)....:)
here's hoping we both go soon!! (you are due the 16th right?...and i am due the 20th.....)
come in your own good, soon, timing, little boys!!!
Christin,
I actually found out I was pregnant 2 days before Mother's Day...and told Jeff and the boys that day...but didn't tell my mother or anyone else until the official announcement on Mother's Day. So yes, Crystal and I found out very close to the same time...and it would be so much fun to give birth on the same day!!!
Bek, yes, I'm due on the 16th. I'm eagerly awaiting your big news, too!
Many thanks to everyone for their encouraging comments. It's comforting to know that so many other women know exactly how this part of pregnancy feels. :)
This bit is such hard work -- I hope all goes well and you are soon holding your lovely boy in your arms, safe and well.
Oh the frusteration of false alarms. I had one 2 days before Honey was born, missed a wedding ,and we actually went to the hospital. Why couldn't the contractions stop while I was home and walking, instead of stopping while I walked at the hospital. I know I would've felt less silly.
Can't wait to hear your news and see little Mephibosheth( wink wink)!
Oh Davene, I hope you realize how blessed you are to have your parents so close! I'm sure you do! I think you may need to go jogging ;)... I did that, along with jump n' jacks and I delivered the next morning!
Just checking in. I had a "Sunday situation" like the one you described with Kanah...and she came on Thursday of that week. Not to discourage you or anything! Just remembering those very real "this is the day" feelings only to find out later...or maybe not. BUT for all we know you could be laboring as I type this. You're in my thoughts and prayers!!!!
I had more incidents of false labor with my third child than any other. I even went to the hospital once. (at least) I remember arriving on the maternity floor and proclaiming "we have a ruptured membrane this time!" Praying that it all happens soon! Love to you!
